This week's Monster of the Week

This week's Monster has been chosen at random. This week it's @OMGArmond! This monster has 356 followers on twitter, has been to the monster ball (7/15/10) and of course...loves lady gaga. I asked him 5 questions, which will be asked by each "Monster of the Week" winner.

1. Why do you love Lady Gaga?
Because she IS my mother monster, & always will be (: I have ALWAYS loved her in the way I do currently, since the day I discovered her.. I get made fun of all the time at school for liking her, but you know what; I don't fucking care, they just don't understand how freaking awesome she is. I love you Gaga, forever.

2. Top 3 favorite Gaga songs?
That's REALLY hard; I love all Gaga songs, but if I had to choose my top, they would be: Boys Boys Boys, So Happy I Could Die, & Telephone <33

3. Top 3 favorite Gaga music video?
Telephone, because it's just so OUT THERE, I simply love it. Poker Face, because it's the first Gaga video I ever saw. & Bad Romance, because, I love the outfits.

4. Why did you think monsters should talk to other monsters on twitter (and/or facebook.)?
Because, the more our monster family is more as one, then drawn apart.

5. The first word that pops up in your head.
Gaga (: -wow, didn't see that coming did ya?!

BTW This monster is special b/c he is the FIRST monster of the week! so Congrats @OMGArmond!

Janelle Monáe - Seen and Heard.

Ever since the BET awards I've been wondering Who the heck is Janelle Monáe? Everyone was so busy talking about Chris Brown crying and Patti LeBelle killin' it on stage! That i thought hmm...who was that chick in the suit performing "Let's Get crazy" during the Prince Tribute? They said her name but I didn't really know WHO she was. After doing a lil research it turns out she has been doing music for a while along with Big Boi of Outcast and Sean P-Diddy Combs (or whatever his name is this week). She has her own label Wondaland Arts Society, and is signed with Bad Boy and Atlantic Records.

Janelle Monáe was born in Kansas City, Kansas to a working class family. She says her iconic suit and tie are her uniform paying homage to her family. Upon my research I've found out that she is quite talented. The girl can sing. And truly sing! Her style reminds me of Grace Jones with a dance inspired by James Brown. There is also a David Bowie and Lena Horne feeling to her. What you hear on the recorded album is what you hear live! her album The ArchAndroid has come out this year and from different various reviews it is a very good album. It tells a story. Metropolis: The Chase Suite (her first EP) tells a story of Monáe's alter-ego, Cindi Mayweather the protagonist of Metropolis: The Chase Suite is like a messiah-esque figure to the android community of Metropolis. A lot of people may not get it at first but her music is nothing less than spectactular and a good time.

The main reason why I'm talking about Ms. Monáe is because she is a great artist. She says she wants to bring art back into popular music. Her songs arent all about dissing some old boyfriend or partying out in the club. Her style of music shouldn't be categorized or put into a box so other people can understand it. Her music has a pop, hip hop, old classical rock and roll type or feeling. She said "My music is for the people... It is meant to uplift and motivate."
And motivate it does! She has given me a new look on the music I listen to, and what other more popular well-known artist today look like. She's not a Rihanna or a Beyonce (who I love). She does doesn't strip off her clothes on stage or strut around in her high heels. She said in an interview that she started wearing a uniform (when performing) because she wanted people to pay more attention to her music and not what she's wearing.  She's herself and doesn't wanna make music strictly for the radio or for the charts. She isn't shaking her butt in peoples faces. She performs with a grace on stage with her "Tightrope" dancing similar to James Brown and Michael Jackson.

The one thing I love the most is the way she carries herself publicly. Janelle carrys herself well and has the ability to engage in an intelligent conversation. She doesn't use constant slang words or cussing. In interviews I've seen so far, she is calm, cool and collected. When she talks she gives you no bullshit. She talks about her music as an art form not something she does on the side. She doesn't seem distracted as if she were bored. She takes every question asked, to heart.

To me Miss Janelle Monáe is a breath of fresh air. She's not the regular mainstream artist. She isn't some gimmick. Her style, attitude and stage presence is one-of-a-kind. In years coming I hope I learn even more about her. She is definitely one to watch. We shouldn't let this one slip out of our hands. She has all the things to become a legend. The question is: Will people like her? Will they understand her art or be left confused and move on the things that are much simpler in music...like Ke$ha...Either way I know Janelle Monáe is a new face in music that deserves to be seen, and heard.

Dear Papi,

It's that time of year again. Father's Day. I dislike this holiday. To tell the truth it used to be my favorite holiday besides Christmas which is also my dad's birthday. I haven't talked to my dad since 2009 after he left me and mother. He was on drugs for a little while but then went to rehab. After completing rehab he left us b/c of something terrible he did to my older sister when she was 8. He molested her when he was high on coke one night. I wasn't born yet but it still hit me inside that my father wasn't perfect. In my eyes as a child my papi NEVER was a imperfect man. He was knowledgeable and very funny. We joked about almost everything. We spent time together as home watching The Simpsons (which has always been my favorite show). My mom and I had our own lil relationship but it was no where near as close as my dad and I. Before I ever asked my mom to chaperone my field trips in elementary school, I'd ask my dad, and he always said yes. When we took trips to Florida to visit his family, I would always go with him anywhere he went. I was his youngest child. He joked that I was the one getting the money in the will. Or that I was the only one he was gonna pay college for. He was my best friend. He never hurt me. Until that week b4 my 16th birthday when my sister finally spoke about what he did to her as a child. I never look at him as my hero again. He looked dumb to me. I finally forgave him but inside I can't help but to see that man I once knew as a child was gone. There are just a few words I'd say to him.

This is the last time I saw you papi. Remember I had gotten a new camera that you bought me? We were out eating dinner just like the old days. Just me and you. I miss you buddy and I wish you could see that even though you messed up, I forgive you. You said that sometimes you gotta put what was in the past behind you and move on to the future because God may make it a brighter day. Well I hope God made your day bright today, wherever you are. Happy Father's Day Papa Clarence.
I love you so much.

Starting something new next week! I will be starting the search for the twitter Monster of the Week.
This is for all my fellow monsters on twitter. It's a drawing to so see which monster on twitter is representing a good monster, is positive and an all around fun person. This isn't based on how many followers you have. This is for that one monster who did something great that week, it's for the monster who changed something that week. It's for a real role model. But each drawing is chosen at random and cannot be chosen again. Each winner will be asked a few questions that will be posted on the blog. So could you be the next Monster of the Week?

ReTweet this to an end!

OK So I've been getting really irritated with twitter nowadays. I remember when I was on twitter for convos with people who felt the same way I did about things. For Example Lady Gaga.

Ever since @ladygaga Tweeted a fans twitlonger saying how much she loved Lady Gaga, almost everyone and there granny has been shoving more of them down our throats. Recently I've seen like a hundred tweets from gaga monsters that say "RT so Gaga can read this! Please read this or I'll cry!!!!" with the Twitlonger link next to it! I've seen more "Get gaga to see this!" than actual tweets. It's getting annoying. They need to realize that Gaga isn't gonna read and ReTweet every one's tweets!

Many are just doing this for the popularity and more followers. To me all this RTing business is pathetic and attention seeking. Are we that desperate for attention and followers? If you have 2,000 followers this doesn't mean your life has been fulfilled. Majority of these people you don't know and in reality only seem like they care about you just so it looks like they are such a great person. This is a social network site not a "Who's The Best Contest" or “Americas Next Top Tweeter" (sadly Fox is probably in works of this show right now.) These are just people who share a bond with you which happens to be the love of lady gaga.

The ones who are creating these twitlonger tweets so they can say how much they love gaga. I love gaga and I don't have to send a long tweet about how much I love her. It was fine when one person did it because to me she explained it so well that every monster could relate to it. For those who couldn't relate then say it, there is a chance that gaga will read it but it doesn't have to be ReTweeted on her personal twitter to make it seem like she cares. She always talks about how wonderful and loving her "Lil monsters" are, she could be reading your tweet but just didn't retweet it. Heck she could be writing your tweet down in a Lil book so she can remember how much her fans care. Who knows?

This is getting ridiculously out of hand. They are so amped up to get a lil recognition that they will bother or harass their followers until they get what they want, and that's wrong. We should be worried about Gaga career making sure she is here for the long run. The music business isn't easy and many are fading away because so many people are just illegally downloading the music instead of buying. We don't want gaga to be some one hit wonder like so many before. But honestly I've seen more "Hey get gaga to see this! RT RT RT!" Than a "I just bought Alejandro on iTunes" or a "I got a pair of gaga sunglasses on her website" so do we really care anymore?

There are good points of meeting gaga monsters on twitter. Many are from different places around the earth, so not only are you getting to know new people but you get to see the major impact lady gaga's music has on others. I know I've met monsters from Africa, South America and China. Another good thing would be seeing why and how others love lady gaga. My favorite question to ask monsters is "Why do you love gaga and what makes you love her?" The answers I get are usually inspiring because we feel so strongly about an artist who has taught us all to let our inner freak out.

I RT things like Good quotes about gaga, Stuff we want to be a Trending Topic, Monsters who SHOULD be followed but aren't harassing for followers. There is nothing wrong with pressing that retweet button. It's that so many are abusing that word to earn something that may just unfollow them in the end.

I love every one of my monster followers. I didn't think 1,233 people would actually find me interesting. I don't need 1 million followers to tell me I'm special. I don't need @ladygaga to retweet me so I can feel loved. I'm happy the way things are.

The Monsters are a virtual but all so real family that comes together in ways that fans of other singers may not. We connect with our hearts (which gaga ate) our words and our actions. We tweet together on twitter, we "like" each other on Facebook, we friend each other Myspace and we watch each other on YouTube. What more could you ask for? We are a family and to me that is something worth being "RT'd" We all have a love for lady gaga so why do I need to beg my followers to RT my tweet so lady gaga can see it? Hell they wanna be recognized by her too! EVERY fan wants to meet their idol or at least have them mention your "twitter name". So let's calm down, keep tweeting and share our love for our Mother Monster ;)

For My Monsters...

(This was originally posted on my twitter 6/18/10)
This is just some real talk that some may need. Please don't feel like i'm offensing you in any way. If you do feel offended, then you might just be guilty.

First: I'm noticing a lot of fake monsters popping up. People who are ONLY about the followers, not gaga! Those people are tweeting about how they can get followers and not about how they support gaga. Asking for shoutouts? Ok. Getting other monsters to follow you? Fine! Follow Friday shoutouts? Whatever. But if you are just sitting there on twitter ALL day saying "can you follow me" and didn't say shit else, we will see that you aren't a true monster, and unfollow you. This is not a popularity contest to see how many followers you have. We care about how much you love @ladygaga and how you are supporting her career.

Another thing is faking deaths and suicide notes just so @ladygaga can RT your tweet. Gaga is not the "healer of all". She is an artist! Stop tweeting her about how if she doesn't reply to you that you are gonna kill yourself. That is putting to much on her mind. Remember that she does have a life of her own and can't always be worrying about a monster whose gonna kill themselves. I want gaga to notice me or tweet me too but I'm not gonna put on some act just so people can feel bad. Yes, she has changed my life in a way that i understand that can finally just be myself and not care what people think. But I don't think everyone who is down and out needs gaga to recognize them. She cares about all of us. She has said she loves us multiple times and she tries to meet all of us. But in reality she can't. In 2009 I tired to commit suicide. I tweeted about it but I then got of twitter b/c I realized that I had a problem, so I got help. If a person can't afford help then talk to someone in your own life or talk to a monster. There is no need for you to tweet gaga about it b/c there is a small chance that she will see it and you won't get the help you need.

A tweet isn't just for "The Fame" it's to connect lives with other people. In our case we connect with other Lady Gaga fans or monsters. I know I follow every single monster that follows me. I have never been the person to be mean or stuck up about followers. To me real monsters followers are more people I have in common with because truly we ALL LOVE GAGA! I'm starting to question the ones who just think they love her.
I love all you monsters dearly and all of you have been so nice to me. There is no doubt we monsters have love for each other. But some things have got to change. Twitter is becoming miserable to some and I'm seeing more and more people just logging off, forever. Let's make this an enjoyable social network again and not just about the popularity of your account.

Love, Peace, Equality and Happiness.

Hope for Haiti

This is a Poem for those in Haiti. I wrote this in school today because I was feeling inspired. Never give up hope.

Hope,
That feeling you have after
destruction.
A moment of prayer,
moment of sorrow,
moment of pain.
Thinking of what's left,
what's gone,
thinking of what's gonna happen
you aren't alone.
Many questions,
and no advicing answers.
Feelings of shaking and quaking have passed,
but now you have nothing,
and you ask
will it last?
You hope,
after you cry,
shout,
die,
a little inside
your heart.
For now you hope
then you sing
praying of what the future,
will bring.
